Oil pipeline blaze kills 12 in Myanmar

Yangon, Oct 25 (DPA) An oil pipeline explosion and fire killed at least 12 people and left 50 badly injured in a remote town in northeastern Myanmar, officials said Monday.

Security officials who asked to remain anonymous confirmed that the blaze broke out Sunday night in Pakokku township of the Magway division, about 530 km northeast of Yangon.

‘The death toll may increase as many people were severely injured and hospitalised,’ one official said. The fire was put out Monday.

The country’s oil pipeline network is owned by Myanmar’s military government.
