EU exports to India hit $28 bn

Brussels, Sep 18 (IANS) Exports from the 27-member European Union (EU) to India rose to 20.5 billion euros or about $28 billion in January-June this year from 16.4 billion euros in the corresponding period last year, EuAsiaNews reported Sunday.

EU-India trade exchanges thus increased by 25 percent, according to figures released by the EU’s statistical office, Eurostat.

EU trade with all its major partners grew in January-June 2011 compared with January-June 2010, except for imports from South Korea (-7 percent).

The highest increases were recorded for exports to Russia (+36 percent), Turkey (+35 percent), India (+25 percent), China (+23 percent) and South Korea (+20 percent), and for imports from Russia (+30 percent), India (+25 percent), Brazil (+24 percent), Norway (+22 percent) and Turkey (+19 percent).
