Biker Barreda ends losing streak in Dakar Rally

Buenos Aires, Jan 15 (IANS) Spaniard Joan Barreda Bort (Honda) won the 10th stage of the 2015 Dakar Rally in the motorbike division.

Barreda Wednesday ended a streak of bad luck — that early on dashed his hopes of winning the rally — to steal the stage from the overall leader and fellow Spaniard Marc Coma (KTM), reports Xinhua.
Barreda finished one minute and 39 seconds ahead of Coma, who still leads in the overall standings.
Barreda completed the 371-km route between the Chilean town of Calama and Salta, Argentina, in four hours and 07.11 minutes. Portugal’s Ruben Faria (KTM) came third.
For Coma, it was still a victory, since the race put even more distance between him and his closest rivals.
With just three more days to go before the rally’s big finish, he heads the list of riders with a total of 38.13.50 hours, trailed by Portugal’s Paulo Goncalves (Honda) by seven minutes and 35 seconds, Chile’s Pablo Quintanilla (KTM) by 31.42 minutes.
