Kolkata metro to run more trains during Durga Puja

Kolkata, Oct 3 (IANS) The Kolkata metro Wednesday announced 618 special metro services in the city during four days of the Durga Puja celebrations this year.

“Metro Railway, Kolkata will run 618 special metro services during four days of Durga Puja from Oct 21 (Saptami) to Oct 24 (Dasami), which is 76 more services than during the previous year,” said a metro railway statement.
Durga Puja, the five-day autumn festival beginning with Shashti and ending with Dussehra (Dashami), is celebrated with fervour in ‘puja pandals’ or marquees, where idols of Goddess Durga and her four children are installed and worshipped.
“The minimum and maximum frequencies on the days of Astami and Nabami will be seven minutes and 15 minutes, respectively. The minimum and maximum frequencies on the days of Saptami and Dashami will be eight and 15 minutes, respectively,” the statement said.
Kolkata metro connects 23 stations on a 25-km line.
