BJP condemns shoe attack bid

New Delhi, June 6 (IANS) Deploring the attempted shoe attack on Congress general secretary Janardan Dwivedi at a press conference here Monday, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) said this was ‘not the right approach’ to vent anger at the government.

‘We don’t approve it, it is condemnable. Whatever be the anger, whatever be the pain and this government and Congress party has given a lot of pain to the people of this country, but this is not the right approach,’ BJP spokesperson Ravi Shankar Prasad said.

At the press meet in Congress headquarters here, Sunil Kumar, in his 30s, came very close to Dwivedi on the dais and threateningly rasing his shoe. But Dwivedi pushed him away. Immediately, a security guard caught Kumar and journalists present at the conference pounced upon him. Kumar was then whisked away by security men.

Ravi Shankar Prasad also slammed the Congress’ comments on senior BJP leader Sushma Swaraj.

‘The Congress party is levelling baseless allegations about our senior leader Sushma Swaraj that she was dancing at Rajgaht, when we are sitting here on satyagraha. It is absolutely condemnable, below standards and a baseless comment,’ he said.
