ONGC to help preserve Ahom monuments

New Delhi, July 1 (IANS) State-run oil explorer Oil and Natural Gas Corporation has signed a deal with the Archaeological Survey of India to preserve medieval Ahom dynasty monuments in Assam.

A press release released here Thursday said ONGC was undertaking this project as part of its corporate social responsibility activities. ‘As a responsible corporate citizen, ONGC has taken up the aspirations of the local people in this regard, and is extending the entire financial support to ASI for comprehensive maintenance and conservation of these monuments,’ it said.

ONGC has also signed a deal with the National Culture Fund to replace the plastic case around the chariot stationed at the entrance of Delhi’s national Museum with a toughened glass case.

The project will be completed before the Commonwealth Games in October.
