If made public prosecutor, will get Raja jailed: Swamy

Lucknow, Jan 13 (IANS) Janata Party president Subramanian Swamy Thursday said if he is made the public prosecutor in the 2G spectrum case, he will get former communications minister A. Raja ‘jailed within four months’.

Speaking to reporters, Swamy, who has filed a complaint holding A. Raja as an accused in the 2G spectrum scam, said: ‘If I am made the public prosecutor, I will get A. Raja jailed within four months from the date I am given the permission (to be prosecutor).’

Raja has filed an application in the court to be made public prosecutor in the case.

He also urged people to take a pledge against corruption. ‘I call upon people to take a vow against corruption. What I did was not extraordinary, all you need to do is have an awareness about the laws.’

Swamy had told a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court that Raja should be summoned in the scam under the Prevention of Corruption Act.

Raja had to step down as minister after the Comptroller and Auditor General’s report said that improper allocation of 2G airwaves had caused huge losses to the public exchequer in 2008.
