Army chief visits Central Command HQs

Lucknow, March 25 (IANS) Indian army chief General Bikram Singh Monday paid a brief visit to the state capital to take stock of the operational preparedness of the central command, headquartered here.

Gen Singh was briefed by Central Command chief Lt Gen Anil Chait on the state of operational preparedness, and reviewed training and logistic aspects and later interacted with senior functionaries, said an army spokesman.
Speaking to select officers, the army chief emphasized the need to carry forward the core values of the Indian Army.
He also paid a brief visit to the veterans cell and lauded the efforts for launching the ex-servicemen’ helpline and the ‘Desh Seva’ programme. Gen Singh later left for New Delhi.
