Beijing, March 25 (IANS) Marco Fu of Hong Kong squandered a 2-0 lead to lose to Graeme Dott 3-5 in the first round of the World Snooker China Open here Monday.
“Fu had a better start and established a 2-0 lead very quickly, but after taking the third frame I found back my rhythm,” said Dott, the winner of the ranking event in 2007.
Fu got off to a solid start with breaks of 45 and 54 in the first two frames, but Dott steadied himself in the following frames and tied the score with a run of 76 in the fourth. Dott kept the momentum in the second half, white-washing Fu in frame five and established a 4-2 lead, reports Xinhua.
Though Fu pulled one back in frame seven, Dott polished off victory in the next.
“Dott pressured me a lot when he was 0-2 behind,” admitted Fu. “I didn’t make so many mistakes during the match, but his scoring capacity is really good.”
Dott will play the winner between defending champion Peter Ebdon and Marcus Campbell in the second round.
