Beijing, March 22 (IANS) The girlfriend of an alleged “homicidal thief” who shot 10 people dead in China was Friday sentenced to five years in jail for helping the accused conceal his identity.
Zhang Guiying, the 22-year-old girlfriend of accused Zhou Kehua, was convicted by a court in Chongqing of harbouring a criminal and concealing income from crime, Xinhua reported.
She was also fined 10,000 yuan (about $1,600). The woman made no appeal.
In April 2012, Zhang met Zhou, a fugitive who had allegedly shot 10 people dead. Shortly afterward, she began living with Zhou and opened bank accounts for him and helped him with make-up tools to hide his identity.
In August 2012, Zhou was gunned down in Chongqing and Zhang was captured from a rented house.
