After the success of the Moto X Play, Motorola has now launched the Moto G Turbo which is pretty much the same body of the Moto G3 but with improved hardware and some extra oomph to the phone to make it a little better. The device as with all Motorola devices is a Flipkart exclusive and one can easily get it at the cost of INR 14,499/-. This is pretty much the same cost at which the Moto X Play was available some time ago during a promotional offer for Diwali. So let’s dive a little into the specifics of the device and check it out how it is better than the Moto G3 and its competition.

The Moto G Turbo is available in 3 colour options, Black, Deep Sea Blue and White. What the phone packs is the Turbo feature which charges the phone’s battery in quick time and Motorola is claiming that the phone will last for up to 6 hours with just 15 mins of charge. Now all these are company figures and it will be seen when the device comes in regular use as to how much it really charges and how much time it can actually last on that charge. The charging for this is done via a TurboPower Charger which comes along with the phone. So if you charge the phone with some other regular charger the Turbo charge will not work.

Coming to the specs end of the phone, the device is pretty much packing with a Snapdragon 615 SoC with an Octa Core processor clocked at 1.5 GHz and comes with 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal storage which is further expandable by 32 GB. The phone is built to take on the challenges of nature as well as it is IP67 Certified which means the phone is dust and water resistant for up to 50-100 meters.

The display on the Moto G Turbo is pretty much the same as on the Moto G3 with a 5 inch HD display protected by Corning Gorilla Glass. The device gets a 13MP camera on the rear and a 5MP front shooter so the user should not have any qualms with the camera performance of the device. It is a 4G capable device and comes with stock Android 5.1.1 Lollipop out of the box and we are sure Motorola should be planning to get the Marshmallow update on it soon along with the rest of the range of products.

The battery performance is something that the company is making a selling point of, but in reality the original battery capacity of the device is only 2470 mAh. Sadly for Motorola, its competition is offering a lot more battery life for their phone, so even with the Turbo option, it is would be hard for the device to really last the distance to make a stunning impression. On top of that the Octa core processor on the device will be the biggest battery sucker.

Motorola is going really hard with the marketing of the device and are offering lucrative offers to the buyers of the phone. One can get cashbacks, discounts, extra data on selected carriers and even up to INR 6,000/- discount on exchange.

But the biggest threat that Motorola faces is the competition from other able companies. The Xiaomi Mi 4 is one main competitor for the Moto G Turbo. It is a flagship device for Xiaomi in this price band and is completely loaded with a 5 inch Full HD display, 3 GB RAM, Snapdragon 801 processor and the works. It even provides an 8MP front camera and a 3080 mAh battery. The second competitor is the Asus Zenfone Selfie with a 5.5 inch Full HD display, same internal hardware, memory card support of up to 128 GB, a 13 MP camera on both the front and rear of the device along with a 3000 mAh battery,

So all in all it will be left to see how the Moto G Turbo is accepted by the crowd with so many options available nowadays, one can only hope that the Turbo charging feature is something that attracts the crowds since Motorola has absolutely fallen short of making a winner of a phone which they had full capability and opportunity to do so.
