Mamata government offers women staff two-year leave

Kolkata, Jan 19 (IANS) In a bonanza for its women employees, the Mamata Banerjee government in West Bengal Thursday sanctioned a two-year leave period to them for bringing up their children.

“All women employees of the state government can now avail of two years of leave during their entire career for bringing up their children. They can take the leave at one go or in phases,” Industries Minister Partha Chatterjee told media persons after a state cabinet meeting.
The leave can be taken for children’s education or other reasons for bringing up children, the cabinet decided.
