Rs.10 lakh robbery in Maharashtra bank

Mumbai, May 6 (IANS) Four people Friday siphoned off Rs.10 lakh from the cash box of a Bank of India branch in the pilgrim town of Pandharpur in Maharashtra’s Solapur district, police said.

‘Four people entered the bank this (Friday) afternoon. One of them engaged the cashier in his talk while the other three entered his cabin to access the cash box,’ a police officer told IANS.

‘One of them managed to take most of the cash from the box. After that, all four thieves left the bank premises as casually as they entered,’ the official added.

The cashier realised the missing cash only half-an-hour later and raised an alarm.

Pandharpur is around 300 km from Mumbai.
