Female Watson is fragile yet strong: Lucy Liu

New Delhi, July 23 (IANS) Hollywood actress Lucy Liu, who has slipped into the female avatar of Dr. Joan Watson for TV series “Elementary”, says she enjoys her stint as the detective for its non-stereotypical portrayal with subtleness and power at the core.

“I like the idea that she is not incredibly colourful and incredibly all laid out. I think that there is something very fragile and very strong about her at the same time, which I really enjoy playing,” Liu said in a statement.
The popular crime-based series, which is aired on AXN India, presents a modern and refreshing take on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s books with detective Sherlock Holmes and his sidekick Watson, who is a male in the original novel, solving challenging criminal cases.
“Charlie’s Angel” famed actor Liu has also directed a few episodes of the series, in which the duo crack New York City’s most puzzling crime cases together.
In the series, Holmes originally from London, is spending his days in a New York rehab center along with Watson, who becomes his investigation partner.
The roller-coaster ride with bouts of love-hate relationship between Holmes and Watson has already regaled the audience with three seasons. And the next season is expected to be out later this year, read a statement.
