New Delhi, Nov 16 ( The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) Monday announced the formation of an 11-member committee for timely implementation of the Delhi Master Plan 2021, which includes wide-scale redevelopment projects in the national capital.

The committee, headed by Ved Prakash Gupta, the deputy leader of the MCD house, will include leader of house Subhash Arya, standing committee chairperson R.K.Singhal, former standing committee chairman Vijender Gupta, leader of opposition J.K. Sharma, as well as other municipal councillors.

According to Ved Prakash Gupta, the committee has been set up for effective implementation of the master plan’s recommendations.

The 2021 master plan aims at making Delhi “a global metropolis and a world-class city”. The plan hopes to address challenges of population growth and immigration into Delhi, and provide adequate housing, deal with the issue of slums, upgradation of old and dilapidated areas of the city; provision of infrastructure services; conservation of the environment, preservation of Delhi’s heritage and blending it with new and complex modern development projects.
